Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Heating Technology 1

The mission of Lively’s Air Conditioning & Refrigeration program is to teach the student the theory and hands on application of the HVAC industry.  This will be accomplished through intense classroom instruction; individual study and practical advanced troubleshooting technology.

Students must take 3 Employment Ready Certification Exams prior to graduation. Students will be required to take Air Conditioning, Electrical, and one source of Heating (e.g. Heat Pump, Electric Heat, or Gas Heat).

Program Overview

The Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Heating Technology program is designed to prepare students for employment or advanced training in the heating, air conditioning and refrigeration and ventilation industry. The student should obtain EPA certification prior to completion in order to be employed in any job that requires work with refrigerants. This program is designed to train the student in the basic theory, fundamental principles, and the practical applications which develop the knowledge and skills necessary for entry into the basic industry service and installation occupations.

What You'll Learn

  • Identify, use, and maintain the tools and tool accessories used in the heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration industry.
  • Fabricate and service the piping, tubing, and fittings used in the heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration industry.
  • Knowledge of basic electricity and of the electrical components of heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
