The Teacher Assisting Training Program is designed to address the needs of substitute teachers at any level. The rise in the number of teacher absences has caused increasing attention to be given to the role, function, and professional qualifications of the hundreds of substitute teachers who work in Leon County. Successful teachers are those who have either consciously, or subconsciously, developed the skills that make them effective in the classroom. In other words, by learning certain skills, techniques, and methods, you can be a successful teacher assistant.
Completion of a Leon County Schools Employee Application through the PATS online system. Requirements also include; passing a Level II background check, 60 college credit hours, AA degree, or 3 years experience as an instructional aide with documentation and principal approval is required.
You must complete the PATS application on line located on the Leon County School website (www.leon.k12.fl.us). Upon completion of PATS you will interview with Vickie Campbell, Human Resource Analyst in Human Resources. Human Resources will determine if you qualify for employment with Leon County Schools. If qualified, Human Resources will place the participant’s name on the approved roster that is sent to Lively Technical Center prior to the beginning of each scheduled class. No one will be allowed to attend the teacher assisting class without approval from Human Resources. Leon County Schools covers the cost and materials of the class for each participate.
